"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." (James 2:14-17)

Every year, Northshore Christian Academy sets aside one month to learn about local and foreign missions. Chapels are focused on missions with guest speakers who share about their missions experience, how and why they have served the Lord locally and around the world, and the amazing outcomes of their service to others in need.
Organized outreach opportunities serving our communities and impacting our world are provided for our students. Our students learn, first-hand, the true meaning of serving others through Christ, providing them with a valuable lesson in a sense of purpose.

Until the Whole World Hears!
NCA Backyard Missions 2012: The Whole World is Our Backyard!
"So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17
Fantastic Northshore Students, Parents and Staff:
We are very excited to let everyone know that NCA's Missions Month is coming very soon! A time to focus on spreading the good news of Jesus Christ around the corner and around the world.
Our chapel services will focus largely on world missions. Guest speakers have graciously volunteered to share their foreign missions experience with us.
Also, this year we will continue our “backyard” missions emphasis by ministering to our neighbors through secular social service agencies and various Christian organizations between Marysville and Seattle. Below you will find the special projects for our Early Learning Center all the way through 8th Grade at Northshore Christian Academy:
ELC & Fourth Grade—classes will collect food donations for the food pantry here at Northshore. The Pre-K will incorporate it into their 100th day (they have a competition between the classes for who can bring in the most cans). The Toddlers will bring baby food/juices/etc. The Preschool classes will bring pasta, rice, or beans. Our fourth grade classes will join in these efforts. Additionally, they will create booklets for each food package sharing God’s love!
Kindergarten—children will assist “Big Al” Charles in making “street kits” for his ministry on the streets of downtown Everett. They will pack Ziploc bags with socks, toiletries and handmade cards that the young people will create for the homeless in our area.
First Grade—classes will assist The Pregnancy Resource Center of Snohomish County. We will collect funds to purchase baby bottles for each student to take home. Students will be asked to talk with their parents about putting loose change or earnings from chores in a baby bottle and bring back with the change to school during the week of February 27th. The teachers will provide more information soon.
Second Grade—Each class plans to adopt either a police station or a fire station. They will communicate with and help support these fine public servants.
Third Grade—Two projects are being considered. One is to provide blankets for foster children and the other is helping the Children’s Country Home in Woodinville. The Country Home assists medically fragile children.
Fifth Grade—Our awesome fifth grade students will support high-school-age Young Life leaders training to serve on their local campuses, thus making a connection between our students and Christian service in their future high schools!

Sixth Grade through Eighth Grade—“To infinity and beyond!” (or at least from Marysville to Seattle). Through our partnership with Youth for Christ and their CityServe ministry, all students will leave campus, Wednesday, February 15 to serve for 20 different organizations. Parent volunteer drivers will take our students to agencies that provide them with opportunities to serve others through cleaning for the elderly, serving at area food banks, helping at youth centers, etc. Two groups are large enough that we will rent a school bus to transport students to and from their service sites. Last year’s program was such a success that we can’t wait to do it again!
Personal Missions Posters!
This year we are working with Northshore Christian Church, sharing the same theme for our joint missions emphasis in February. The church is very excited about working with our children. One thing the church’s mission group would love to see is a series of art projects prepared by our children to hang on the church walls during the NCC’s weekend services.
We are asking each class, ELC-5th grade class to make a project on butcher paper to highlight their backyard missions project. First the teacher will select a verse related to the project. Then the students will creatively decorate the paper, including the name of the class and every student’s name that is in the class. Ms. DuCette, Mr. Rehnberg, and Mr. Culp will facilitate the process for their respective grade levels.
Missions Month Audio Devotional Guides!
A special edition devotional guide is being prepared by the Global Discipleship Team at Northshore Community Church and they are also preparing an audio version to be read by our very own Northshore students! Both editions will be available in February, 2012.
We are excited to serve our world and local communities by sharing Christ’s love through practical ways. Thank you for encouraging your children to be a part of it!
Our NCA students make such a difference in the WORLD! Over the years, NCA students have been involved in several projects that have impacted many people in other countries: Here’s how we have made a difference with the funds we raised and items we have donated over the years:
NCA into a food packing factory for one day where our students prepared meal packets to feed this many hungry children in the Dominican Republic. Our Principal took a team there to deliver these meals and also educated families about bringing the Lord into their lives while they were there. Click to read more: NCA Missions 2010: Be Amazed!
